Where: Toonseum!

Benefitting: Dreams of Hope and Toonseum

Welcome back as we kick of the next installment of Chachi Plays!

Now before I put the beneficiary information in im sure you are asking why it took us so long to get to this point. Well, we were working on the organization as a whole and still continue to work on it to improve it and so because of that and the holidays I decided to push it back some to the (hopefully) warm weather of May!

Dreams of Hope:

Dreams of Hope (DOH) has established itself as Pittsburgh’s only arts-focused, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and allied (LGBTQA) youth (ages 13-21) organization. The organization was founded in 2003 by Susan Haugh, current Artistic Director, with a grant from the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and with assistance from three collaborating artists. Recognizing the need for positive creative outlets for youth in Pittsburgh, and the need for positive LGBTQ role models and messages in society, Haugh founded DOH with this mission: “Through the arts, Dreams of Hope develops LGBTA youth leaders who promote social change by educating audiences.”

The mission of the ToonSeum is to celebrate the art of cartooning. Our goal is to promote a deeper appreciation of the cartoonists and their work through hands-on workshops, community outreach, cartoon-oriented educational programming, and exhibitions of original cartoon art.

Stay tuned for more details as we break everything down!
